Restaurants

There are a lot of good restaurants to eat at in Switzerland. A few of my favorites were very unique. They were La Salle, which was all enclosed in plexi-glass, Blindekuh, and Castle Bottmingen which is completely surrounded by water. For more information on La Salle, a good website to go to is http://www.frommers.com/destinations/zurich/D49211.html.
There is more to know about Blindekuh, though! Yes, the name does have a lot to do with the concept of the restaurant. When I walked in, everything was pitch black so I couldn't  even really tell what the place looked like. It started off as a project, so that people could see what it would be like if they were a blind person and what kind of problems they face. The servers were all either fully blind or partially blind, which was kind of neat because that just made it more realistic. At first it was confusing, but it was pretty easy to figure out. I would definitely recommend going out to eat at this restaurant.

Places to Go

Of course, like any other country, there are a bunch of fun places to visit. You can go shopping on Bahnhofstrasse, a mile long shopping street, on the Swiss Chocolate or Cheese Train, go on hikes in the Alps, visit museums, and many more. Two things I definitely would recommend doing is going on the Swiss Chcolate Train and going to the William Tell Museum, so that you are still learning something; plus it has a very interesting story behind it.
The William Tell Museum is in Bürglen, Swizterland because William Tell has been to known being born there. You can take a tour of the museum, and you can see many books, pictures, instruments, statues and more that all relate to him. They have tours in many languages, even English! I even found out a very interesting story about Tell's death and a few events that led up to it.
The Swiss Chocolate Train really is something! The train cars were very fancy, with red velvet seats, and luxurious decorations. The train windows were like car windows and you could roll them down! That's different from anything else I've ever seen. They serve a light breakfast while you are on your way to Gruyere, where the Cheese Factory is. You can watch them make the cheese and get a few free samples. (: Then you can spend a little time in the city.
After that you finally get to the best part, which is the Nestle/Callier Chocolate Factory! You can smell the chocolate before you reach the building. Again, you get a tour and unlimited samples of the chocolate. Don't forget to check out the gift shop on the way out!
